Development on Farm 560 Section 4 Yzerfontein
Some residents recently received notice of an intended residential area development east of Atlantic Drive. It includes more than 1000 residential properties. Affected and interested parties (I&AP) were invited to register within 30 days to receive future information regarding the matter and provide input.
The application is made by Enviro-EAP (EAP) on behalf of the owner.
EAP must, if everything goes as planned, make a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) available to relevant government departments and registered I&AP parties for information and input and this is planned for mid-July 2023. It must include the full report and all specialist reports and contains all details about the application. I&AP parties will therefore be able to make an informed judgement and react as they see fit.
EAP expects to receive the final decision from the relevant department by the end of April 2024 according to their timetable which was provided to the YRA on request.
After that, an application may be made to Swartland Municipality (SM) for the development. SM will set requirements regarding services such as water supply, sewerage, electricity and cleaning amongst others. Supply of electricity is also dependent on Eskom’s conductor capacity.
