2021 Review

The YRA could not function normally due to the Covid pandemic restrictions. Nonetheless many
important matters were communicated to Swartland Municipality (SM).

* Input to the 2021/22 budget resulted in a substantial reduction in property tax. Tariff increases were
also limited to the minimum. Sadly public participation in budget input is still limited and the YRA is
one of a handful that take the trouble to analyse the budget and submit suggestions to the benefit of
residents.

* Maintenance and repair requirements of streets, beachfront, sidewalks and streetlights were
communicated to SM when required.

* SM was requested to adjust refuse removal schedules to address problems resulting from collection
of refuse of weekend visitors. Finality has not yet been reached.
* SM undertook to complete outstanding work on the pavement project in Lutie Katz during the next
financial year.

* Optimal usage of municipal assets are being discussed with SM on an ongoing basis to ensure
maximisation of income to the benefit of residents.
