Yzerfontein Residents’ Association (YRA) is managed by residents of the town – for residents.

YRA is recognized by Swartland Municipality (SM) as the official mouthpiece for residents. The association looks after the interests of residents regarding municipal matters.

YRA is an independent organization and does not receive funds from Swartland Municipality or other institutions.

How we function

An Executive Committee is elected from the members at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Portfolios are compiled according to the different matters that require attention and allocated to the members of the Committee. Ad hoc members are sometimes involved in providing additional expertise; or to launch projects.

All work is done on a voluntary basis. If you want to contribute, please contact us.

What does YRA offer you?

  • liaison with municipal, provincial and national government bodies in the interests of residents
  • advice on municipal tariff issues
  • intervention with the planning and development of the town
  • participation in the creation and development of sensitive areas and heritage sites
  • promotion of the proper development and maintenance of the beach
  • combating litter and pollution of the town
